Attention golf enthusiasts! A new golf course concept is coming to Florida this winter and it’s set to change the game in more ways than one. Cabot Citrus Farms is preparing to open its doors and offer golfers a new and exciting golfing experience on its 1,200-acre property, formerly known as World Woods Golf Club near Brooksville, Florida.

Situated in the rolling hills of the Nature Coast in Florida, just north of Tampa, Cabot Citrus Farms is a prime location for those seeking a laid-back southern lifestyle while still being in proximity to major urban centers. The Cabot brand, which already has golf resort communities in Scotland, British Columbia, and St. Lucia, is now bringing its innovative golfing concept to Florida. A new course routing concept named “The 21” is being designed by Mike Nuzzo to complement the renovated, more traditional 18-hole Cabot Barrens and Cabot Oaks courses, both of which are scheduled to debut in December.

The property was originally a 36-hole complex consisting of two Tom Fazio-designed courses and a par-3 course. However, Cabot Citrus Farms plans to transform the property into an upscale resort with a total of 57 holes. Kyle Franz is working on the redesign of both regulation courses, and all 57 holes on the property will play firm and fast, unlike most Florida courses. The Cabot Barrens course includes at least a dozen holes with split fairways, adding an extra layer of challenge for golfers. Meanwhile, the Cabot Oaks course, which is a collaboration between co-designers Franz and Nuzzo and advisor Ran Morrissett, offers more elevation change, up to 50 feet, and even includes a par-3 hole with a 40-foot-deep sinkhole that golfers must clear.
